I would like to tell you my success story about child mental health.
My son was diagnosed with ADHD and Bi-polar disorder when he was 3 years old. At that point he had never slept more than 30mins at a time and was always angry and defiant. He smashed his toys, hit me and banged his head against the wall repeatedly. As the years passed he constantly talked of killing himself or me and was verbally and physically abusive. He was suspended from school a number of times and had no friends due to his behavior. He couldn't focus at school.
He is now on 3 different medications and is doing very well. He is getting great report cards and has just taken the FCAT ( I never thought he would be able to do that), he has made friends both at school and in our neighborhood. He is sleeping well and waking up refreshed. He is outgoing and happy and a joy to be around. He is very caring and loving and affectionate. People are always telling me what a great kid I have.
None of these great things would be happening without the mental health care and medication he has received.
